The Way That I Love You 2
By Dominique Thomas
“Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.”
-Bob Marley
Prologue
Harlow
“You’re married? Call me!”
I thought of my father’s text message as I walked into his favorite restaurant. How he knew about my marriage to the twins I had no clue, but he did. For the rest of my stay in Dubai, I couldn’t even enjoy myself because I feared how my father would react to what I had to tell him. Marcio and Marcos treated me like a queen but my father wouldn’t care about that. In his eyes, I should be with one man not twin brothers.
My hands shook and my heart was beating a mile a minute as I looked around the restaurant for him. I spotted him sitting at a round table and I slowly walked over to him. My father was a handsome man. Time had done nothing but made him look better. He was dressed in one of his signature three-piece suits and giving me a cold, hard stare. I had never had my father look at me this way.
I kissed him on the cheek and sat down. I sat my purse on the table and looked down at my lap. I didn’t know what to say or even where to begin. I was a grown ass woman, but in the presence of my father he could still make me feel like a child at times. Parents had a way of doing that type of stuff.
“Harlow Lee, look at me. You need to explain to me what the fuck is going on and you need to say it now," he said in his normal commanding tone. I slowly raised my head and looked at the man that had raised me up to be such an independent, driven, young woman and I sighed. I could already see the disappointment that he felt for me.
“Um well, I'm married to Marcos and Marcio. We got married in Dubai last week.” My father’s jaw ticked and he sat back in his seat. He rubbed a hand over his low cut curly hair and shook his head. His brown eyes looked at me with so much hurt swimming in them that my own eyes watered. I loved my father and the last thing I ever wanted to do was disappoint him. He meant the world to me.
“Daddy it’s not…”
“It’s not what? You married to twin brothers so don’t sit here and play victim. You’re married to two fucking brothers, Harlow Lee!” he yelled and banged his hand onto the table. I jumped in my seat and everyone in the restaurant looked at us. My father cleared his throat and took a drink from his glass of water. He cleared his throat again and took a deep breath.
“How do you think this makes me look, Harlow? I’m running for Senate and you do this to me. Out of all of my children, you were always the one I could count on.
